Being a Crimean Tatar woman and designer, I am dedicated to preserving and advancing the rich cultural heritage of indigenous peoples of Crimea. The debut collection is an homage to the strength of women and features the ‘Örnek,’ a national Crimean Tatar ornament and one of the oldest cultural treasures of our people. In 2021, the Örnek and its associated knowledge were inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. Each element of this ornament carries profound symbolism: almonds signify youthful beauty, roses represent the blossoming woman, and thorns are embroidered to ward off the evil eye. The pomegranate stands for prosperity and fertility. The women's circle, a space of support and enrichment, is represented by the jug. Women would carry jugs to fetch water from the spring, where they could share experiences, exchange news, and seek advice.
